One of the main reasons why this article is very interesting is because this is the first time that such a study has been conducted and of course the first time that we cover this kind o topic. Apparently, facial exercises help women to appear younger and more beautiful as a result. “Association of Facial Exercise With the Appearance of Aging” is a study conducted by researchers from Northwestern University with the leading author Dr. Murad Alam, published in the journal JAMA Dermatology during January.
The subject of the study were women aged from 40 to 65 years old which learned the training exercises from two eye to eye training sessions. They were taught by Gary Sikorski from Happy Face Yoga who is also coauthor of the study. He trained women participants with 32 different facial exercises and each one of them lasted about 60 seconds. Participants would continue their exercises at their home for 5 months. Only 16 women, out of 27 from the beginning, completed all the exercises for the whole continuation of the research. Women did 30 minutes facial exercising every day for the first 2 months and then for the rest of the 3 remaining months they did exercises once in two days. Muscle progress acts as a counterbalance for the effects like thinner and loosening skin by growing volume of the face in general and increasing in size and reinforcing facial muscle. As we age, so does the skin, as it starts to lack elasticity and also fat pads start to get thinner and thinner. Wrinkling and wringing out the cheeks are two types which can help in developing a younger face appearance for middle-aged women. There are several different muscles which make the movement of the cheeks possible and exercising these muscles makes the cheeks look brimming. More precisely, researchers saw that lower and upper cheek brimming was the most beneficial facial part from exercises. The average women age at the beginning of the study was 50.8 years according to age appearance meanwhile at the end of the study it has decreased on 48.1 years. Also, when women participants were asked about their satisfaction from they study, they responded as highly satisfied with visible improvements in their facial skin.
